Fish food firm lands its biggest order
New Era Aquaculture, the South Yorkshire fish food business which is backed by the Coalfields Funds, has landed its largest ever order – to supply the world’s newest and largest oceanarium on Singapore’s Sentosa Island.
New Era will supply a comprehensive range of diets for the 100,000 marine animals in the Resorts World Sentosa (RWS) Marine Life Park, which opened in December 2012 and is part of a US$5 billion leisure complex on the island.
Peter Kersh, New Era’s managing director, said: “We are extremely excited to have secured this landmark order. . .The RWS order helps to augment our reputation in the growing public aquariums market – the world is our oyster!”
Enterprise Ventures, which manages the Coalfields Funds, first invested in New Era in 2009, and has supported the business throughout its development, committing £315,000 from the Coalfields Enterprise Fund.
New Era sales are growing at an impressive 50% per year, with international sales forming the major part and extra staff members recruited to manage the increased volumes. The company supplies more than 100 major aquariums across the globe.
